At the southern end of the Cornish Riviera is one of Cornwall's most celebrated fishing villages, Mevagissey. Its streets are too narrow to accommodate heavy vehicles and on busy days in high summer the police close the village to all traffic.
There is a lovely sandy beach at Pentewan, Porthluny Cove, which also is home to Caerhays Castle and has some lovely gardens.
To the north are the fascinating Lost Gardens of Heligan, wonderful Victorian gardens that have been restored by the man behind the Eden Project, Tim Smit. There are the substantial remains of an Iron Age fort on the promontory, which is also worth a visit.
