Polperro is a popular village, with narrow streets and seafront homes, where the water literally laps at the foundations.
Architecturally, little has changed since the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries when locals were largely occupied pilchard fishing or smuggling but the heavy tourist traffic means that the local shops are very touristy with an overabundance of fast food joints.
It does offer some picturesque walks along the banks of the river Pol, heightened by the attractive collection of houses along the banks of the stream.
