The market town of Wadebridge sits on the banks of the Camel and lays six miles inland. It has an impressive bridge, which was built in 1470 and spans 320 feet across the river.
The town hosts the annual Royal Cornwall Show at a permanent show ground and the Cornwall Folk Festival. The showground at Wadebridge is also the venue for Cornwall's largest antiques fair. August Bank Holiday weekend is the time when Wadebridge comes alive to the sound of music as it hosts the annual Cornish Folk Festival.
Wadebridge is an ideal location for keen walkers, providing easy walking for young and old. The Camel Trail follows beautiful countryside for over 17 miles in total, The Trail goes from Wadebridge to Padstow and from Wadebridge to Pooley's Bridge. The whole of the Trail is level as it used to be part of the Bodmin and Wadebridge Railway.
