Bridgwater, situated on the River Parrett, was once one of Somerset’s major ports and the industrial remnants of this history can still be seen today in parts. However, you will find classic examples of Georgian townhouses in Castle Street and the Church of St. Mary is renowned for its spectacular screen-work.
The Bridgwater Carnival is a magnificent event, with the local clubs and charities displaying an array of colour and fantastic light on large platforms towed by tractors, they travel all over the town for everyone to see, be sure to mark your spot early as it gets very busy.
