The East Devon market town of Honiton is an excellent base for people wishing to visit or to tour Devonshire.
The town is known for its two ancient industries; producing lace, pottery and glove making. In more recent years, the town has also become the main centre for antiques and antiquarian books.
Honiton is a lively and historic location and magnet for antique dealers and bargain hunters from all over the world.
The town's architecture is largely late Georgian; though the town itself is much older it was mostly destroyed in two fires in the mid 1700s.
