New York or Empire State as it is otherwise known, is located in the Northeastern area of the United States. Within this, there are 2 distinct states, Upstate and Downstate, both miles apart from each other in so many ways.

With both quiet pastoral lands and noisy clubs and subways, there is the best of both worlds. Many leave the city to explore this area, never to return.

New York State has great waterways to explore, from the Hudson River, the St Lawrence River that stretches to the world famous Niagara Falls at the Canadian border, the Erie Canal that runs for 524 miles connecting the capital Albany to Buffalo and the Thousand Islands.

Buffalo is renowned for quality cheap food and excellent wine. The backcountry, especially Adirondacks and the Catskills, is good for those seeking wilderness and adventure, with mountainous and rugged land, hiking and camping on offer. On the coast are miles of sandy beaches, and scattered throughout the Hudson Valley are townships swamped by artists as well as grand and historic estates.
