Vanuatu

Located in the South Pacific, Vanuatu is a place of untouched tropical beauty with towering active volcanoes, the bluest of bubbling hot springs in the midst of the jungle, stunning beaches, warm turquoise water, thatched houses and is rich in World War II history.

With an archipelago of over 80 Islands, the largest is Espiritu Santo and the capital Port Vila is found on the island of Efate.

There are 3 predominant languages spoken in Vanuatu, Pidgin English (Bislama), English and French and the people are ever so welcoming and friendly.

With the presence of so much volcanic activity, the coastlines are rocky with coral reefs and drop offs – perfect for scuba divers and snorkelers.

Due to the tropical nature of Vanuatu, cyclone season generally occurs between November and April with storms occasionally occurring out of this period. Also, because of volcanic activity in the region, earthquakes do sometimes occur. For your safety and travelling comfort, it is advisable to check with the Vanuatu Tourism Office before travelling to places where volcanic activity is present.
