Situated in an attractive bush setting, Mundaring Weir is one of the world's greatest engineering projects. Completed in 1903, it is the start of the water pipeline that pumps water to agricultural areas and the Kalgoorlie goldfields, some 700 kilometeres in all.

At the foot of the weir is the No 1 Pump Station Museum, which honours the brilliant engineer, C Y O'Connor who also designed and built Fremantle Harbour. He endured widespread scepticism and tragically ended his life before the project's success was proven.

The Golden Pipeline Heritage Trail (a drive trail that follows the Pipeline) is also a feature of the area, as are several walking trails.

Picnic and barbecue facilities are available for visitors. As this is a water catchment area, swimming and other recreational activities are not permitted. Dogs are also prohibited as this is a conservation area.
