The Black Rat is a converted pub that still has its warmth and friendliness, but is now solely a restaurant. The food is all freshly prepared daily in the kitchen and could be described as 'Modern British'.
If you are looking for a relaxed evening out with warm, friendly service then look no further. The wine list has some 80 wines with a balance between Old and New World.
The Black Rat has a bar upstairs where diners can have a pre-dinner drink and peruse the menu, should they wish. To avoid disappointment, they strongly advise that you book in advance, especially at the weekends.

- Upstairs at the restaurant there is a private dining room that can sit 16 at a push but 14 is more comfortable. If anyone would like to book it up for a private function then the chefs will be only too happy to work out a special menu for the evening. It is the ideal location for business dinners as the door can be shut for privacy.
- Opening Times
- We are open for Dinner: Tuesday - Saturday evening. (We open at 7pm) Meal orders are taken 7 - 9.30pm and we close at the end of the evening. We are open for Lunch: Saturday - Sunday lunchtime. Meal orders are taken 12 - 2.30pm with a break before dinner on Saturday.
