The Sydney Metro Light Rail system is the newest and most environmentally safe way to explore the city.

Opened in August 1997, the Light Rail covers a larger area of metropolitan Sydney than the old monorail. Trains run every 10-15 minutes - a quick and easy way to travel in and out of the city.

The system links Chinatown and Darling Harbour to the Star City Casino, the Sydney Fish Markets and Wentworth Park 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The rail runs at 10-15 minute intervals, a quick and convenient way to travel in and out of the heart of the city.

The Light Rail operates every day of the year including Christmas day. Frequency: Zone 1: 24 hrs/day. 6am-midnight 10-15 minutes. Midnight-6am every 30 minutes. Zone 2: Sun-Thurs 6am-11pm 10-15 minutes. Fri- Sat 6am-midnight.
