Country Gate is a tranquil accommodation hideaway set on 2 acres of landscaped gardens at Springbank, bordered by a working cattle farm and the stunning Wombat State Forest.

Ideal for families and groups - guests can choose from the Cottage, Studio and Forge; each with an open plan living space, kitchen/kitchenette, air-con and private BBQ. In-house massage treatments are available.

Country Gate provides all linen for guests. There is a laundry in the main cottage. Breakfast packages are available. Country Gate is pet friendly, please ask for details.

Things to do: Country Gate is 15mins from Daylesford - Victoria's spa country. Many boutique cafes and restaurants are in the local area. Ballarat is 20mins away - there you'll find Sovereign Hill, historical sites, pubs and wineries. Bushwalking in the Wombat State Forest is a definite must.
Location: Country Gate is just over 60 minutes from Melbournes CBD, 5 minutes from the Western freeway M8 north of Wallace. (Victorian Melways Map 77 B1) Directions from Melbourne From the M8, take the Wallace Exit and go back over overpass, Ormond Rd. From Ormond Rd Take the fifth right turn into Simpsons Road. Stewart's Hut .Continue up Ormond Road exactly 1km from Simpsons Road and Stewart's Hut is on your right under 5 pine trees. Directions from Daylesford Take the Daylesford Ballan rd, take Barkstead turn at Leonards Hill follow this road thru to Barkstead. (Do not take the Yoga Ashram turn). Follow the bitumen through Barkstead , and then the yellow gravel rd out of forest. Then take first turn to left SIMPSONS RD.

We stayed here Easter 09 in The Cottage. We enjoyed the garden which is alongside a paddock where the local horses and cows would be grazing. The cottage was beautifully presented and the open fire worked very well ... Read More

After having left Melbourne late we arrived to a cottage with the fire crackling and electric blankets on to warm the beds. I couldn't think of a better way to start a weekend away.
