The Sutton Bank National Park Centre is on the western edge of the fabulous North York Moors National Park - home to the largest expanse of heather moorland in England. It provides the perfect introduction to the National Park, its people, history and wildlife.
At the Centre you can try some delicious food in the café or treat yourself to a memento of your visit from the shop which sells locally made crafts such as pottery and wooden bowls.
No visit to the Centre would be complete without spending some time admiring the spectacular views. People come from miles around to admire the stunning scenery as it stretches across the Vale of York to the Yorkshire Dales.
There are also numerous waymarked walks of varying distances from the Centre including a short, wheelchair accessible walk that takes you along Sutton Bank to the top of the famous Kilburn White Horse. Measuring 95meters long by 70 metres wide this chalk horse is the most northerly turf-cut figure in Britain.
