Wongi, an Aboriginal word meaning 'deep water' is a fitting name for this magnificent state forest. Blessed with a chain of deep waterholes fringed by native bush and rushes should be a sufficient draw card for any intrepid traveller but Wongi has even more to offer. Numerous fauna, tall eucalypt plantations and exotic Hoop pine forests as well as the Lenthall Damn makes Wongi State Forest an appealing place to visit.
Australia's longest established trail the National Bicentennial Trail also passes through the forest.
