The port is easily reached by all forms of transport, and is situated eight miles to the east of Newcastle City Centre, on the north bank of the River Tyne.
From Newcastle, follow the signs for the coast along the A1058, until you reach the Tyne Tunnel roundabout on the A19. From the roundabout, follow the signs for ferries and North Sea, which leads to the Royal Quays. From north or south, follow the A19 until you reach the Tyne Tunnel roundabout, then follow the signs for ferries and North Sea which takes you to the Royal Quays.
By rail, Newcastle is a major station on the London to Edinburgh East Coast Mainline, and offers good access from throughout the region. The Metro connects from Newcastle Central Station to Percy Main and takes about 20 minutes, it is approximately 20 minutes walk from the station to the terminal.
The 327 bus service provides connections with the ferry terminal from Newcastle coach and rail stations. Buses depart two hours 20 minutes & one hour 15 minutes prior to each sailing. The buses depart from Newcastle Central Station, Gallowgate, and the Youth Hostel in Jesmond Road.
Both long & short term car parking is available at the port.
