The Wayatinah Lagoon is a Hydro Tasmania lake near the township of Wayatinah, central Tasmania. Wayatinah is a short drive off the Lyell Highway, 90 minutes west of Hobart (116 kms/72 miles).

The Wayatinah Lagoon was formed by the building of a small dam on the Derwent River for the generation of hydro electric power.

The Lagoon offers good trout fishing and boating, with boat launching, picnic, barbecue and camping facilities.

Wayatinah is an Aboriginal word meaning brook or creek. Wayatinah is a hydro-electric village on the shores of the Lagoon. The small township has a golf course, swimming pool, hotel, a major salmon hatchery and caravan park on the shores of the Wayatinah Lagoon.
