Its site in a whitewater crook of the Huon River makes this farm a delightful one to visit apart from an interest in the process of growing mushrooms. The farm produces more than 5 tonnes a week of white, honey brown, oyster and shiitake mushrooms - all available at the farm shop open on weekdays.
Tours can be made any day of the week, but arrangements must be made ahead of time. A tour includes the compost preparation and the dark, humid growing rooms with bags stacked five high - requiring pickers to use ladders! The mushroom roots occupy the whole of the big bags with the mushrooms popping out just on the surface.
