The Shropshire Union, Montgomery and Llangollen canals have been extensively restored and provide a tranquil alternative for touring Shropshire.
The Montgomery Canal joins the Llangollen at Frankton Junction. The river Severn loops round Shrewsbury and can be navigated to via the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal.
