Local Area
St. Ives was awarded the accolade of "Seaside Town Of The Year" late in 2007 which perhaps explains why it is so popular with visitors who return year after year. St. Ives excites a wide range of visitors from children who love the long sandy beaches and cool sea to surfers - Porthmeor Beach is a popular surfing beach - to artists attracted by St. Ives' rich artistic heritage. The Tate St. Ives has become a must-see attraction for many visitors alongside the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Leach Pottery. St. Ives also hosts many festivals and events throughout the year including a Jazz Festival in September and lively New Year celebrations. The Feast Monday celebrations in Fenbruary each year are also a highlight in the town events calendar.
Things to do
St. Ives itself has a variety of bars, restaurants and cafes in which to absorb the atmosphere and beauty of the town whilst enjoying fresh, locally sourced (and caught) food. However, the town is alo an excellent springboard from which to explore much of southern Cornwall including Lands End, Penwith and the surfing capital of the UK - Newquay. Nearby attractions range from Flambards theme park to the stunning Minack outdoor theatre, perched on the cliff edge with the sea as a dramatic backdrop.

Just spent 3 nights at the the Nook (July 2009). Arrived mid morning and was welcomed with a pot of tea and a slice of cake. Our room was extremely comfortable and clean with tea and coffe facilities and clean towels ... Read More
