To fly to Snowdonia and Bangor from the USA or Europe, the international airports at Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are within 2 to 3 hours by car.

The port at Holyhead, Anglesey, approximately 25 miles from Bangor, has popular passenger ferries to Ireland.

Rail services to Bangor, on the Conwy Valley line, from hubs at Birmingham and Manchester make Snowdonia and Bangor easy to reach by train.

The Snowdonia National Park is popular for walking and climbing or, for less strenuous travel, take the Snowdon Mountain Railway from Llanberis to the top of Mount Snowdon - the highest peak in England - or the "Snowdon Sherpa" bus.

Bangor, on the narrow coastal strip north of Snowdonia park, is easy to drive to from England on the A55 expressway which passes through tunnels cut into the mountains and past the north Wales beaches and Conwy.

The A487 and A494 continue south from Bangor through Caernarfon and Aberdyfi to Harlech.
