The area is well served by all forms of public transport, with the Channel Tunnel, Southampton airport and the Kent ferry ports all easily accessible.
Winchester and Basingstoke have excellent road links to all the UK. Follow the M3 to London for 51 miles from Basingstoke and 70 miles from Winchester. Avoiding rush hour is recommended as this area is firmly set in the commuter belt.
The area has no airport, but London Heathrow is only 55 miles and approximately 56 mins drive; London Gatwick Airport is 77 miles from Winchester, 1 hour 15 mins approximately by car. Even closer is Southampton (Eastleigh) Airport, only 11 miles away.
Southampton Passenger Ferry Port is just 12 miles from Winchester via the M3 and B3330. There are over 300,000 cruise passengers expected to pass through the port each year. Portmouth is 32 miles from Winchester and has regular ferry crossings to France, Spain and the Channel Islands.
Basingstoke is only 50 minutes from London Waterloo by train.
