The South Midlands has no airport within the region: however all parts are within easy reach of the main UK international hub airports and flights to all UK, European and international destinations. All have good rail and road links to the areas main towns and attractions. The closest, Birmingham Airport, is just approx 27 miles, 35 minutes drive from Stratford-upon-Avon.
Most towns are within an hour's train journey to Birmingham, giving the option of flights from its own airports - East Midlands and Birmingham International - or catching an onward train to Manchester, Stansted, Gatwick or Heathrow for a wider choice of destination.
The airports are all also easy to get to by car or coach: National Express & Flightlink Coaches cover the main airports and onwards travel into the region.
For driving, East Midlands and Birmingham International Airports are both within an 1 hour drive to Cheltenham in the middle of the area. Manchester and Liverpool are an hour further to the north of Birmingham, whilst London Heathrow and Gatwick are within approximately a 2 hour drive to the east of Cheltenham.
