To travel by air to Berwick, Peebles and other Borders towns, the best options are to fly direct to Edinburgh Airport just 40 miles north of Galashshiels or Newcastle Intl Airport, 70 miles to the south. Both have scheduled, charter and budget flights to and from Europe and the UK.

Trains to and from Berwick-upon-Tweed travel on the East Coast mainline. Intercity trains between London and Edinburgh stop at Berwick. The rail network does not extend into the Borders; train - bus links provide onwards travel to Galshiels, Peebles and other towns.

Long distance coaches stop to drop off and pick up passengers at various towns and villages across the borders. National Express Coaches stop at Galashiels, Hawick, Selkirk, Jedburgh and more.

The Scottish Borders area is easy to reach by road with major routes from all of England and Scotland. Drive north from Newcastle on the A1M to Eyemouth or A74 from the west and A7 to Galashiels and Hawick. Leave the motorways and ring roads to enjoy driving on traffic-free roads and quiet country lanes around Selkirk, Jedburgh, Kelso and Coldstream - all within an hour or two by car from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle and Carlisle.
