The eastern areas of the Mid Wales & Cardigan Bay area, around Welshpool and Newtown, are well served by routes into the midlands and the rest of England.

The western areas around Aberyswyth and Cardigan Bay offer a slightly more challenging drive, with the closest access to a motorway being around 100 miles. This at least gives the motorist an opportunity to appreciate the spectacular scenery for which the area is renowned.
