Ferry ports on the south and east coast such as Dover, Folkestone, Harwich, Ramsgate and Newhaven are all easily accessible from the west of London. All ports are approximately 130 miles from Reading and between them offer 100's of daily crossings between the UK and mainland Europe.

Thames River Boat runs regular scheduled services on the Thames, advance booking is not needed. The Chilterns area also has three heritage canals - the Grand Union, Oxford and the Kennet & Avon.
