Heathrow Airport is just 15 miles west of central London in the South East of England. The M4 & M25 motorways are both close by for driving to any UK destination on the motorway network. The journey time by car from Heathrow to Central London is approx 50-60 mins. Leaving the airport, follow signs for M4 motorway & Central London.
There are four seperate terminals at Heathrow, with a 5th being planned. To drive to Terminals 1, 2 & 3 which are located in the centre of Heathrow take:
The A4 (local road) from central London: 14 miles, 30 mins To & from the UK motorway netwrok: M4 Junction 4 to Heathrow central Reach the M4 from the M25 Junction 1a
To drive to Terminal 4 on the south side of Heathrow take the:
M4 Junction 3 M25 Junction 14 A30 (local road)
Passengers & their bags can be dropped off on the terminal forecourts, but vehicles cannot wait there. Any car left unattended outside a terminal will be removed by the police. A charge is made for its recovery & each day's storage, plus a parking ticket & fine.
NB: There is no pick up facility on any of the terminal forecourts. Drivers collecting arriving passengers should park their vehicle in the appropriate short stay car park & walk to the terminal building.
Petrol stations
There are two petrol stations at Heathrow, both open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The BP station is in the centre of the airport, close to Terminals 1, 2 & 3. The Esso station is on the Southern Perimeter Road between Terminal 4 & the M25. It has an automatic car wash.
