Around 150 years ago, Maryborough was one of Australia's largest and busiest ports.

Today Maryborough's Portside offers a complete visitor experience - with sensational parklands, museums, restaurants, guided walking tours, river cruises, steam trains, spectacular river views and a chance to soak up history against a backdrop of glorious colonial architecture.

The Portside Centre is the place to start your Portside experience - both an interpretive centre and signpost to the rest of the precinct and Maryborough. Incorporating both the Bond Store Museum and the Customs House Interpretive Centre, interactive displays and experienced guides help give visitors insight into the city and its colourful origins.

Further Information: Customs House Interpretive Centre: The beautiful Customs House (C. 1900), is filled with interactive displays including listening posts with first settler stories, time capsules and a multimedia ghost show which revisits the time when sly grog running was rife and opium was a legal import. Bond Store Museum: Just a few doors away is one of Maryborough's largest museum collections celebrating its early history. Steeped in the very history of the Port of Maryborough, the Bond Store managed the thriving import, export and liquor trade of the ear. Walk through the Bond Store and you're stepping on history - the earthen floor and handmade bricks in the original 1864 building downstairs remain, as do many of the liquor barrels left over from that time.
Entry Fees: * Admission to the Portside Centre is a gold coin donation * Free walking tours conducted by an experienced costumed guide are available Mon-Sat, departing City Hall at 9am.
