Tucked along side to the village of Imbil and surrounded by mountains is Lake Borumba. Constructed in 1964, Borumba Dam otherwise known as Lake Borumba was built across Yabba Creek. The lake has a surface area of 500 hectares at an average depth of 6.6 meters and holds 33 300 mega litres when full.
The lake is a Mecca for fishermen who come for the Golden and Silver Perch, Australian Bass and Saratoga. These were initially bred from an on-site hatchery which is now closed.
Calm waters, deer & dingoes, eagles, Azure Kingfishers, monitor lizards, wallabies and freshwater turtles frolick between patches of rain forest growing to the edge of the water. Lake Borumba is close enough to Noosa to be the perfect spot for picnics, barbecues, swimming, fishing or camping.
