The Fly Point, Halifax Park Aquatic Reserve, is characterised by deep submerged cliffs and strong tidal currents. Arguably one of the best shore dives in New South Wales the Fly Point-Halifax Marine was declared an offical reserve in 1983. It lies between Fly Point and Nelson Head, extending from the mean high watermark to 500 metres off shore.

Snorklers and divers can discover a whole new world submerged in the seagrass beds between the boulders that layer the seabed. Within this the reserve features a number of varied and extensive fish life including, schools of bream, tarwine, mullet, big silver drummers, bullseyes, nudibranchs galore, giant flathead, blue grouper, seahorses, bait fish and striped butterfish. Sedentary marine animals, particularly sponges are also prevalent. The sponge gardens deep sublittoral cliffs and the variety of marine life present combine to create a spectacular and aesthetic underwater landscape.
