The stunning town of Maleny is located on the tablelands overlooking Caloundra and the Sunshine Coast. If you like the Hinterland surrounds, why not keep going to explore some of Queensland's hidden gems.
There are a myriad of sightseeing opportunities in the range, including a panoramic view of the Glasshouse Mountains. Bushwalking and bird-spotting are popular pastimes in this area, where you can also explore the walking trails through the lush rainforests of the Mary Cairncross National Park and, if you fancy on an hour or so drive, the Mapleton and Kondalilla Falls and the Obi Obi Gorge.
Head north-west along the Maleny-Kenilworth road which passes through the Sunshine Coast hinterland towns of Witta, Elaman Creek, Conondale and Cambroon before entering Kenilworth. Spend a while inspecting the Kenilworth Cheese Factory and taste the local produce or wander through the stunning Kenilworth State Forest.
From here, head back to Maleny via Obi Obi Road or keep heading north to Gympie and beyond for a unique hinterland adventure.
