First built in 1890, the St Kilda Town Hall was designed and planned by fashionable architect, William Pitt. This grand civic space, set amongst 19th century gardens, was the victim of suspected arson when a fire gutted it in 1991.

Subsequent reconstruction has seen the rebirth of St Kilda Town Hall as a multipurpose venue. Used as a function and venue centre, the building also houses a gallery. Opened in March 2008, it presents exhibitions which encourage an appreciation for arts and culture, and are of particular relevance to the cultural vitality of the City of Port Phillip and its community.
