One of the most pleasant parks in Hackney, Springfield Park was formed in 1905. Created from the grounds of three private houses, the iconic White Lodge survives in the south-west corner of the park. A picturesque pond with a small wooded island lies 30m to the east of White Lodge.
Framed by the River Lea, Springfield, Clapton Common and Spring Hill the park boasts fine views across the River Lea and Walthamstow Marshes. Belts of trees line most of the boundaries of the park and winding paths link entrances and main features. Hackney residents make use of the numerous sports and recreational facilities - a bowling green to east of pond, tennis courts beside the river.
