Within the Morton National Park is the Erith Coal Mine Walk. This 1.5 km easy stroll is steep in some parts with steps and ladders. The walk leads to a mine that was open from the 1860s to 1915. For safety reasons, fencing prevents entry to the mine.
Along the way see woodland, heath and rainforest. Helpful signs describe the types of vegetation as well as the history of the old coal mines. Scribbly gums, rainforest and the waterfall are special features of this area.
