A trip to the Kangaroo Valley is not complete without a stop to one of renowned architect Glenn Murcutt's local creations. Known for his simple houses that resemble open verandas, he is admired among his contemporaries for creating an identifiably Australian idiom in domestic architecture. From the outside the Fletcher-Page House seems to float above the land like a metallic dragonfly.

Built in 1996 it stands midway on a grassy slope, overlooking a spectacular glen. The key componants are that it is narrow with a simple corrugated iron roof, floor-to-ceiling windows and a long corridor from which the living areas split off one by one.
