This 153km (one way) drive begins in the village of Berry and follows the beautiful NSW South Coast. Bursting with antique shops, quaint stores, cafés and restaurants, Berry is a cute village ripe for exploring. Discover some of the wineries around, Silos Estate Winery and Jasper Valley Wines in Jaspers Brush, Coolangatta Estate near Shoalhaven Heads and Cambewarra Estate Wines in Cambewarra are all fine examples.
Once your done in Berry, head further south. There are plenty of side roads that meander through bushland and national parks to divert you. Stretches of sleepy beachside villages and long sandy beaches are on the agenda. Shoalhaven Heads and Culburra Beach are located around the Nowra area.
Nowra is home to the lazy expansive Shoalhaven River. River cruises, photography and fishing are some of the popular experiences on this beautiful and precious waterway.
Twenty minutes south east from Nowra and on the shores of the famous Jervis Bay, you'll find the historic township of Huskisson. Worth a stop, the village offers an aboriginal art and crafts centre, a great trading post, many beautiful bushwalks and miles of white, clean beaches.
If you're driving in June, drop by the Scarecrow Festival held during the June long weekend. Monthly craft markets (held on the first Saturday of each month), museums and a thriving cultural community allow Milton to retain its original character. If you're feeling car bound after your journey, enquire about a walking map of historic sites at the information centre.
Further on in Ulladulla, there are many experiences to be had at Funland, the Wildflower Reserve, South Pacific Heathland Reserve or Pigeon House Mountain.
The final stop, Batemans Bay is the jewel of the South Coast and hosts an abundance of sights and activities. Batemans Bay Water Gardens covers an area of 5 hectares, 70% of which is a natural wetland inhabited by many varieties of water birds. Visit the Oyster Shed in Wray Street, where you can view oyster beds and learn about oyster farming, as well as try a few. After exploring, hit the local cafes or restaurants - international standard and many seafront dining opportunities.
