Established in 1996 on north and north-westerly slopes next door to the original site of Chateau d'Yves is Tibooburra Vineyard. Chateau d'Yves is long gone now but Tibooburra's plantings comprise: Pinot Noir 8 hectares; Chardonnay 7 hectares; Merlot 4 hectares; Sauvignon Blanc 7 hectares and Shiraz 7 hectares.
Grapes destined for the Tibooburra Vineyard label are hand harvested (often by family members) to ensure minimal mechanical interference and ultimately superior wines. Patrick Watson was formerly viticulturalist for Montana and Sileni vineyards in New Zealand. Since arriving in the Yarra Valley with his family in 2004, Watson has been able to apply some invaluable Kiwi viticultural secrets to Tibooburra's management regime.
