The 55 mile drive from Balloch to Killin is a maze of lochs, waterfalls and mountains; it is a haven for painters and photographers.
The drive begins on the A82, on the west coast of the 25 mile long, 5 mile wide Loch Lomond, which is the largest body of water in Great Britain. This idyllic, unspoilt area has an incredible backdrop of mountains looming behind and offers the most picture postcard views the whole way around.
Ardlui is a place nestled in the midst of magnificent scenery at the head of Loch Lomond, the small village offers a variety of walking tracks and is ideal for climbing and watersports.
Keep travelling on the A82 until you come across the junction of the two main routes from the lowlands to the North West highlands. Here you will find the village of Crianlarich which is very popular with hillwalkers. Take a right onto the A85, passing through a couple of quaint villages in the heart of the Highlands and you will come across Killin, situated near the head of Loch Tay.
