The Warialda area encompasses a diverse landscape that is both picturesque and productive. Warialda was gazetted as a village in 1849 and was the administrative headquarters for the Gwydir Squatting District in the Colony of NSW. Explorer Allan Cunningham passed through the area in 1827. This safe and friendly community of approximately 1300 invites visitors to enjoy its abundant country charm and hospitality as well as the natural and manmade attractions of the district.

The Warialda district is primarily agricultural, with a diverse range of industries being tapped into. These include cropping, cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, horses, aquaculture, olives, alpacas, ostriches and pecan nuts. Education is of an extremely high standard in Warialda, with schools catering for children from pre-school through to year 12, an active Community College running a wide variety of courses throughout the year and the Gwydir Learning Region which is utilising community, council and education professionals to provide a high standard of learning to all ages.

Major events of the year for Warialda and surrounding area include the Gravesend Rodeo in February, Warialda Races in April, Warialda Agricultural Show in May, the North Star RRR Ball in July, Warialda Off-Road 200 in September.

The Warialda district is a safe and happy environment in which to raise children or enjoy life in retirement as it offers a relaxed country lifestyle while still providing many of the essential services and facilities for families and businesses, with financial and lifestyle benefits that far outweigh the fast pace of the city.
