Enjoy world-class sailing held close to the shores of Mooloolaba Beach with Olympic, World Champion and America's Cup sailors competing in the three-day international competition. The annual championship has been conducted at Mooloolaba for 14 consecutive years. The high grade of competition is due to the class being sailed; the International Etchells. At 30 foot long, the boats are sleek, rigorously controlled to ensure compliance with the class rules and it is often the technical decisions of the sailors on the water than can make or break their sailing performance.
Family, friends and spectators can easily enjoy watching this highly competitive racing from the cafes and restaurants dotted along the Mooloolaba Esplanade while the Wharf Tavern is the home to the Etchells Winters event. Sailors meet there after racing to enjoy a cool drink, good food and to tell the tales of the day's racing.
The Sunshine Coast offers a wide range of activities for family members. There is Mooloolaba Wharf and Underwater World, Australia Zoo, a dive on the ex HMAS Brisbane, or an eco-cruise on the Maroochy and Noosa Rivers. Mooloolaba beach offers a stunning location to swim, relax and entertain.
