- The rural scattered village of Whixall lies between the historic market towns of Whitchurch and Wem, and is close to the medieval town of Shrewsbury, and the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge. Part of the village borders the Llangollen Canal, as well as being in the boundaries of the 948 hectare Whixall Moss National Nature Reserve.
