The Beechworth Oktoberfest is based around Bridge Road Brewers, Beechworth's own microbrewery. The Brewery was first opened in June 2005 on Bridge Road in Beechworth, and has relocated to 'The Old Coach House' behind Tanswells hotel in the heart of Beechworth.
Bridge Road now boasts a range of nine world class ales, each of them being awarded at least one medal at the Melbourne International beer awards in 2006-08.
The brewer is of German heritage, and has attended three Oktoberfest in Munich, his partner Maria from Austria has also worked at the Oktoberfest, and bakes a mean pretzel.
They hope to recreate the atmosphere from Munich, albeit on a smaller scale, here in Beechworth. To do this, crowd participation is must, so we encourage any or your entire group to crack out the lederhosen (gents), and put some plats in your piggy tails (girls), and just have a fun time.
We have arranged a two piece ohm-pa band from Melbourne for the weekend, and will be serving our beer of course, Maria's famous German pretzels, German Sausages and Sauerkraut. Tanswells will also be participating in the event, and will be a great place to have a bite before heading off.
Parking for a bus is available behind the brewery and hotel off High street.
Looking forward too seeing you there will be a great day.
