The Wensleydale Railway runs trains between Leeming Bar (near the A1/A684 jct) and Redmire (on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park), via Bedale and Leyburn. The 17 mile trip takes approximately 50 minutes.
The trains are normally formed of heritage diesel railcars from the 1960s, which have large windows and a great view of the line ahead if you sit behind the driver. However, they also operate diesel-loco hauled trains on some days and during 2010 they will be operating steam-hauled trains from 17 July to 8 August and from 12 August to 30 August.
