Opal Expo Festival

Opal is Australia's national gemstone. The Queensland Boulder Opal Association holds it's annual Opal Expo Festival for two days where the miners from all opal fields come to Winton to trade with national and international buyers and the public. The event starts with a meet and greet on the Thursday night, Friday there is trading in the Beer Garden and tailgating in the car park of the North Gregory Hotel. Friday night is a social night followed by more trading and street markets on the Saturday morning. Saturday night there is a Gala Dinner Dance at the Shire Hall where the winner of both the Jewellery and Dress Designs competitions are announced and the entries are paraded.
