Manyhills Book Store

Manyhills began as purely an internet based book store in March 2006 selling both new and used books. We rapidly built up a large inventory until storage space became an issue. It was then we decided to leap into the bricks and mortar world. Our plan was to create a bookstore with a difference by resolving what, in our opinion, plagued bookstores we had visited - lack of space, stagnation and a vagueness of what is in stock. So in February 2009, we established our shop, fulfilling our intentions with wide four foot isles and a databased inventory and quickly earned a bonus feather-in-the-cap by being the only bookstore in the area that would order in books for customers. These three trademark features ensured a healthy repeat customer base.

March 2010 saw us shift to a new premises in Morwell - to the historic office buildings of the now defunct State Electricity Commission (SEC). It was once the nerve-centre of Victoria's power production and we are actually in the space that used to be the SEC library. Our outlook on one side is of the open-cut mine and on the other is the quiet and gentle sway of gum trees, the chatter of rosellas, cockys and such, plus next door is Powerworks - the electricity industry's information centre.

The last four years has seen us expand from an online hobby to the largest new and used bookstore in Gippsland, with about 700 metres of shelving.
