Milroy Observatory, situated on 1000 hectares of bushland, borders the north-eastern corner of the Warrumbungle National Park in Coonabarabran.
Coonabarabran is renowned as the best place in Australia to view the southern sky. Its position is far from any light pollution producing dark skies, and the area has over 70% clear nights, low humidity and very stable air; perfect conditions for star gazing.
Milroy Observatory is home to a 40" Boller and Chivens Telescope, the first telescope to be placed on Siding Spring. This incredible piece of machinery is makes Milroy Observatory one of the premier observing sites in the southern hemisphere.
