Yogini: Yoga for Women runs classes just for women.
We need yoga that specifically tackles the stress that builds up in a woman's daily life. We juggle families, careers and studies, and we need yoga that relaxes us to the core.
We want yoga that suits a woman's physique. We don't need poses created by men for men. Yogini yoga adjusts for hips, bums, and boobs. In each class we develop strength in our pelvic floors; and our poses emphasise the feminine aspects of yoga.
We need yoga that will help us balance our hormones. Many of the reasons that women come to yoga are hormone-related, ranging from PMS to menopause and peri-menopause, yoga for pregnancy, and digestive conditions such as IBS. Each term as well as general yoga classes, there are also classes that addresses specific issues, such as yoga for pelvic floors, yoga for headaches and yoga for promoting regular menstruation.
At Yogini Yoga we mainly practice static poses, where we move into a pose and hold it - which gently massages the internal organs, glands and muscles, and relaxes the nervous system. We spend time working with the breath at the start and at the end of yoga classes; and then students are able to chose whether they spend time in relaxation or in meditation.
Yoga is a powerful tool for promoting strength and health within the physical body, and stillness and equanimity for the mind. Yogini Yoga can help with general well-being in day to day life; and can be a life-saver when moving through the transitions within a woman's life, such as moving through adolescence, pregnancy, and menopause.
