MONA - Museum of Old & New Art

MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art, opened in Hobart in January 2011. It is Australias largest private museum and displays a diverse collection that ranges from ancient Egyptian mummies to some of the worlds most infamous and thought-provoking contemporary art.

Its location on the Derwent River just north of Hobart, the buildings subterranean design and the owners unconventional and challenging curatorial approach are already making it a must-see for any visitor to Australia.

In addition to the Museum, the Mona site also includes the Moo Brew microbrewery, Moorilla Refined winery and vineyard, accommodation, restaurant, bars, cellar door, cafe, function centre, museum shop, and library; all within a 15 minute-drive or 30-minute fast catamaran from the MONA ferry terminal at Brooke Street Pier, on Hobart's waterfront.
