The Leonora Golden Gift weekend is held in Leonora, located 230 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The Golden Gift weekend is primarily an athletic carnival, incorporating Australia's richest 1600 metre event, the 'Elite Mile', with a free community concert, horse racing carnival, fireworks, children's entertainment, market stalls and other street performances.
With more than AUD50,000 prize money available over the carnival, the Leonora Golden Gift attracts elite athletes from all over Australia, with local, state, national and international runners congregating in Leonora to participate in the event.
