The Rockhana Gem and Mineral Festival, held annually in July, is a unique and the only event of this kind held in the North West, showcasing local fossicking sites and gemstones that can be found in the Cloncurry Shire.

Cloncurry is presently experiencing a mineral boom and the Rockhana is a celebration of the importance of mining to the town and assists in promoting the district. The minerals of the area are a significant factor in defining the nature of Cloncurry and the Great North West of Queensland, since Ernest Henry first discovered copper and developed the Great Australia Mine. The Cloncurry Shire is rich in gold, copper, garnets, amethyst, crystals, Maltese crosses as well as collection of other minor minerals that can be sourced in the region.

Local clubs and businesses as well as visitors are encouraged to participate during the three day Festival.
