The Retreat is situated on the banks of the majestic Hawkesbury River and amidst three national parks. Facilities at the Retreat include a 9 hole golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool, great food and wonderful hospitality.

Choose from a variety of accommodation where almost every room has a view, whether overlooking the river, the golf course, the landscaped gardens or the pretty village. The rooms are very comfortably and tastefully furnished with full air-conditioning and ensuite facilities. All rooms have either a king or queen bed.

History: Why is Wisemans Ferry so-called? Wisemans Ferry was on the original route linking Sydney with the Hunter region. Part of the Old Great North Road, built by convict labour in the early 1800's, still exists today and is a wonderful example of Australia's early heritage. In 2010 the Convict Trail received World Heritage Listing. Soloman Wiseman obtained the contract to feed the convicts and gave his name to the ferry that crosses the Hawkesbury River, free of charge, every day of the year. He of course made is money by charging people to cross the river!
