Local Area: Relax and unwind with a gentle stroll on Bennetts Beach or Jimmys Beach - both are an easy 5 minutes drive away at Hawks Nest. You can always swim in the clear blue waters and perhaps have a swim with the dolphins - there are nearly 200 dolphins in Port Stephens. One of the hidden treasures of this area is the Hawks Nest Golf Club. The Club has hosted the NSW Senior and Mid Amateur Women's Championship and the NSW Mazda PGA Trainee Championships are also held at Hawks Nest. The Myall Lakes National Park is another relatively unknown treasure. With long sandy beaches, bush walks, rainforest walks, Aboriginal middens and of course the beautiful native wildflowers which come to life in Spring, the National Park is a "must" to visit.
Things to do: A visit to Tea Gardens is only complete when you have seen some of our native wildlife. Our resident koala population is particularly well known. The area is also also well known for its free-roaming kangaroos. Take a look at the local area and discover the fascinating history of Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest by following the Riverside Art Walk with new art additions added each year. The area is also very popular for bird watching with over 280 difference species in the National Park and we have our own family of Laughing Kookaburras at the Motel. We are also well located for a day trip to the Hunter Valley wineries, Maitland Gaol and the world heritage listed Barrington Tops National Park. Discover the rich history of our hinterland towns of Buladelah, Stroud and Dungog.
